The Edge House: A Hybrid Home in Krakow Poland

The Edge House, built by Mobius Architecture in Krakow Poland, is a fine example of a hybrid home that mixes traditional and modern architecture. Due to its setting, the design of the house has some strict requirements that did not match with what the owners had in mind. Therefore, the architects had to be creative in reaching the perfect balance.

Located in a mountainous region, the residence follows a set of building requirements including a pitched roof, angled at 37 degrees, featuring eaves. This provides a traditional look to the contemporary Edge House.

The curved, white arms form a swimming pool and a garage on the opposite sides. The structures are attached by the 18-meter footbridge. The house has a characteristic multidimensional overhanging frame due to its unusual distribution on all the levels.

Although the house gets adequate natural light, chic artificial lighting such as cove lighting, sculptural ceiling fixtures and other kinds of accent lighting is also used. The glass balustrades provide wonderful views of the landscape including the surrounding mountains.

Therefore, the house exhibits clean, transparent, and simple interior design – exactly what is expected from a contemporary, urban home.
